Our mentors provide information, advice, and guidance to support young people to make decisions and progress toward their creative ambitions beyond compulsory education. Mentoring sessions are flexible and tailored to the needs of the young person. This year we are supporting 300 mentoring pairs across London, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
The Young Community programme provides opportunities for young people to come together with like-minded peers and build connections that become networks for life. This long-term support programme is currently accessed by over 1,800 young people aged 16-25.
Aisha, 20, is from east London and is currently studying for a BA in Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts. Her journey with Arts Emergency started back in 2021 when she applied for a mentor.
We caught up with mentee Steph and their mentor Claire, both based in Merseyside, about the mentoring journey so far, what they’re getting from the experience and how the programme is helping plan for the future.
Louis, 22, from Manchester, first joined Arts Emergency as a mentee in 2020. Four years later, he's now a member of the Youth Collective and is well on his way to becoming an architect.
“I feel like I have a clearer vision in what I need to do in order to achieve my goals. Before I started the mentoring scheme, I had an ambition, but no clear pathway of how I was going to achieve that. Talking with Rebecca helped me to plan out the steps I was going to take right through the beginning of university."
