Offer Work Experience

At Arts Emergency, we team up with organisations and freelancers to boost industry awareness and the employability of our Young Talent.

What we do
At Arts Emergency, our Community Team curate different types of “work experience” each year. These experiences are integral for our Young Talent (aged 16-25) to build their knowledge of the industries they love, without financial barriers getting in the way.

We rely on our fantastic Network to help us with:

  • Our Careers Events. In the past we have produced online residentials filled with workshops and panels, coordinated set visits, and collaborated with organisations on running Insight Days. If you'd like to be a part of our 2024 offer, please use our Share an Opportunity form.

  • Our Summer Insights Programme. Each year, we recruit organisations and freelancers to host one of our Young Community for a 5-10 day placement. The programme contains a variety of industries and range from taking place online, on-site, or hybrid. We have closed our 2023 call out and will recruit again in Spring 2024. If you’d like to get a head start, check our FAQs.

I want to create a bespoke paid opportunity for Arts Emergency Young Community
We help organisations recruit from our 18-25 year olds all year round - not just in the summer! These opportunities are solely advertised in the monthly Young Community newsletter.

Bespoke paid opportunities range from commissions, freelance opportunities, internships, and permanent contracts. In 2023, we worked with Wonderbly and Margaret London.

When working with us, we will ask you to:

  • get in touch with us at least 2-3 months before you intend to have a young person in post
  • read and agree to our Code of Conduct for Organisations
  • provide an opportunity where the pay is at least your area's Real Living Wage or the average freelance rate for your industry
  • send us a job description or brief with the salary, deadline and location clearly stated
  • work with us to create an application process that is accessible
  • keep the application window to a minimum of 3 weeks
  • let us know what pastoral care will be in place
  • email the rejected applicants and offer short feedback
