Arts Emergency

Jude Christian

Theatre Director

I was desperate to make theatre from the age of 13, and came from a family who were initially very unsupportive, then later came around to the idea but had no connections to help me out! I wasn’t clued up at all about the profession I loved, and it was only after university that, with trial, error, hard work and luck, I managed to start putting a career together. I’ve always divided my working time between professional and community arts because I’m passionate about making art for and with people who don’t do it for a living, as well as those who want to devote their lives to it. I want to see theatre as a profession filled up with people who don’t take it for granted, who are making work that represents the full diversity of this country, and who are empowered by the generation above them to step up and think of themselves as the future of the arts.
