My decision to pursue a BA in English Literature (and to continue beyond that to MA and PhD level) was based on love of learning and a hunger for new ideas and experiences.
Knowledge has a value far beyond monetary worth. It’s empowering, it’s exciting and it’s inspiring. I firmly believe that an arts degree provides you with skills for life; it also brings you into contact with a diverse mix of fascinating people with whom you can share and develop ideas and thus broaden your horizons in unexpected ways.
I’m not from a middle class, academic background so I appreciate how difficult it can be to choose to study a subject that’s all too often perceived as worthless or a waste of time and money. I’d like to share my experiences to hopefully prove otherwise!
