Arts Emergency

Glenn Warren

Art Technician

Ever since I left Middlesex University in 1998, I have strived to keep myself within the Art and Design Field. In my most recent job, I have worked with students aged 8 to 18 years old, which I think has given me invaluable experience to prepare me to work with students as part of The Arts Emergency Service.

Part of the reason why I have decided to volunteer now is that I am hoping to be working on my Masters this coming year. Not only will my previous experience feed into this volunteer work, but I will also be learning and developing as a artist as the students I may be potentially working with.

As one of the aims of the Arts Emergency Service is to encourage students from underprivileged backgrounds to take on further education, or work within the arts field, I feel my own personal experience makes me a good candidate to volunteer. I come from a working class background, and was the first of my family to go to university.

I have worked in shops, galleries and just recently as an Art Technician at a school, so feel that also gives ample opportunity for discussion about the different opportunities for work with the Art and Design fields.
