My name’s Adam and I run the UK/European wing of Modular Records, working with artists like Tame Impala and Cut Copy. Before that I worked at Warp Records on artists like Flying Lotus, Rustie, TNGHT, Grizzly Bear and Mount Kimbie. Up to that point I’d done stints at Atlantic Records, Island Records and BBC Radio 1. Before that I studied Communication and Uni but soon fell into spending all my time on the student radio station, which opened up 95% of the doors and gave me 95% of the skills that helped me land my first job in music. I do a lot of the behind-the-scenes work in releasing records and making sure people who might like them, hear them. I’ve chosen to take part in Arts Emergency because, increasingly, only people with a connection to the industry, or people who can afford to work for free in London over long periods get employed, and I’d like to do a little to level the playing field if I can.
